Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga
We will travel with you to Merzouga, passing through the Middle Atlas and its cedar woodlands on the
way. You can expect to be picked up at your accommodation. The length of this mountain range in
Morocco is approximately 350 kilometers, stretching from the southwest to the northwest of the
country.
Ifrane, also known as the “Moroccan Switzerland” for the architecture of its houses and for being one of
the most exclusive ski destinations in the country, and Azrou, also known as one of the most renowned
Berber communities in Morocco, will be two of the settlements that we will visit while traveling through
Morocco.
We will travel through the Ziz Valley as well as the Ziz Gorges, and we will go through several different
communities such as Midelt and Erfoud. We will travel to Merzouga via a desolate route that begins in
Erfoud.
This evening, we will spend the night in a motel that is located relatively close to the sands.
Day 2: Enjoying the dunes of Erg Chebbi
On the second day of the trip, you will have the opportunity to explore one of the most breathtaking
areas of the Eastern Sahara. In the 4X4, we will drive into the desert, where we will stop at Bedouin
communities, travel through the sands of Erg Chebbi, and see oasis.
Following the journey, we will travel to the well-known settlement of Khamlia, which is home to the
Gnawa people, who are descended from African captives, and experience the incredible traditional
music that they play.
After the sun has set, we will make our way back to the hotel to board the horses that will transport us
to the Berber village deep within the sands. Once there, we will have supper and spend the night there.
Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Ouarzazate
The dawn over the desert is an experience that no one should ever pass up, especially if they have the
chance. After taking in the beauty of this moment, we will ride the camels back to the hotel, where we
will be able to take a shower and eat breakfast.
On the journey back to Ouarzazate, we will travel through Rissani and Tafilalet, both of which were
formerly the central cities of the Alaouite dynasty. Rissani was the location where the Alaouite dynasty
was founded, and Tafilalet was their seat of government. After that, we will make our way toward the
Todra Gorges and the Dades Valley, where we will stop to take in the views from a hilltop overlooking the
valley.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
We will depart Ouarzazate in the morning to travel to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most
well-known protected towns in the world thanks to its appearance in films like Gladiator. We’re going to
explore the kasbah’s remains to find out what happened there.
We’ll be passing through the Berber communities of Amerzgane, Agouim, and Ighrem as we make our
way along the route. We’ll be stopping for lunch in the Berber hamlet of Tadart after crossing the
amazing 2,260-meter-high Tizi n’Tichka pass in the Atlas Mountains.
We’ll be leaving for Marrakech again after noon .
